Summer Raffle & West Deer Community Days… Tickets for the parish’s 2017 Summer Raffle are available. We need to sell all 1000 tickets to the Raffle to be as profitable as can be. You can purchase tickets for $20 after weekend masses or at the Rectory, and there are packets of 5 tickets for you to sell to family, neighbors, co-workers and friends. Proceeds from the annual Summer Raffle have provided funds for important parish needs. Funds from the Summer Raffle paid for the new bell system in the church as well as the keyboard in the church purchased a few years ago. Proceeds from last year’s Raffle are being used to help pay for the new boiler being installed in the church this summer. I would mention that I have personally already sold 40 tickets to my family and friends—they all told me that it’s a “good ticket” because we offer generous prizes. I expect that I will probably be able to sell another 10, which will mean that I have done my part to sell 50 tickets for Saint Victor’s Summer Raffle. Will you do your part to help the parish?
In addition, Saint Victor’s will again participate at the West Deer Community Days. We sell raffle tickets and operate an Outdoor Bingo at the Bairdford Park Pavilion. (Note: The Township received a request a few years ago from persons in the community who asked that activities be offered that would appeal to adults, and so a representative of the township approached me and asked if Saint Victor’s could offer Bingo during Community Days. The parish does not make a big profit from the Bingo, but we do provide a service to the community.)
It is important that we have a good number of volunteers to help with the sale of the Summer Raffle tickets as well as individuals to help with the Bingo for Community Days. Please consider helping with these activities. Let us know as soon as you can so we can contact people and make a work schedule. We expect that volunteers will only need to work a 2 hour shift. The Bingo will be offered at the Bairdford Pavilion from 5 pm until 9 pm on Saturday August 5.
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults… Each year a faith formation team offers a program for adults seeking to become members of the Catholic Church. Two individuals received Sacraments of Initiation at the 2017 Easter Vigil Mass. Now is the time to begin forming a new group of candidates. Do you know someone in the community who is interested in joining the Catholic Church? Do you have a spouse, close friend or neighbor who has an interest in the Catholic faith? Now is the time to encourage those individuals to contact the Rectory so that arrangements can be made for this year’s RCIA group!
