Liturgical Minister Schedule

Liturgical Minister Schedule

The word "liturgy" comes from the Greek word leitourgia which means "work of the people." As Catholics, we use the word "liturgy" to refer to the celebration of the Mass, the center of our faith life. Together, as a church family, we are all called to participate in the liturgy through our prayer, song and spoken responses at Mass. Some of us also feel called to serve at Mass as liturgical ministers. Our liturgies at Saint Victor Parish couldn’t be successful without our wonderful group of liturgical ministers sharing their time and talent with our parish community!

Altar Servers: assist the priest or deacon during the celebration of Mass, the Sacraments, and other Liturgical ceremonies.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: are laypersons who assist the priest or deacon with the distribution of Holy Communion to the faithful during Mass.

Lector: clearly and reverently proclaim the Word of God, as contained in the Sacred Scriptures, at Mass and other Liturgical functions.

Cantor: a person who sings solo verses or passages to which the choir or congregation responds.

Liturgical Minister Schedule: Aug. 5 - Nov. 23, 2017 (Thanksgiving)

**Please notify the rectory and check the weekly bulletin for any changes**

We also ask that you let us know if you are available to serve any of the Christmas Masses. Christmas falls on a Monday this year. Regular Sunday, December 24 Masses will be 9:00 am and 11:00 am. Our Christmas Masses this year will be:

  • Sunday, December 24: 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm, and 8:00 pm
  • Monday, December 25: 9:00 am and 11:00 am

New Year’s Day is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year, because it falls on a Monday. Monday, January 1, 2018 Masses will be at 9:00 am and 11:00 am.

We ask you notify us of any special scheduling requests by October 22, so that we can honor these requests before completing the schedule. You can contact the rectory via email (stvictors@consolidated.net), phone (724-265-2070), or by filling out a Liturgical Ministry Schedule form which is located on the large shelf in the Narthex and drop it in the collection basket.

IF ANYONE IS THINKING ABOUT BEING A EUCHARISTIC MINISTER OR LECTOR, PLEASE LET US KNOW NOW, SO THAT YOU CAN BE INCLUDED ON THE NEXT SCHEDULE!

Thank you for the time you spend serving St. Victor Parish.
